I was talking with a friend about birthday cakes and she wanted to see the cakes I've made so I decided I'd post them all.

Next month I'll be working on a pirate ship cake and then in April, Luke says he wants a fishing birthday, so I'm not sure if that means a fishing boat cake or a fish cake. And in October I get to make my first girl cake!!

Family Fun Weekend

We had a little getaway with Nath's family this weekend. And we only had to drive 10 minutes to get there! We usually have an annual hotel weekend in November but we messed that one up by having a baby, so we downsized this year to a one night stay in Winnipeg. But it was still a lot of fun! They boys had a ton of fun swimming with everyone, playing pirates with Oma and wrestling with Opa. We had a delicious supper of Ribs, pulled pork with potatoe salad, beans and coleslaw from Lovey's. And after checking out on Sunday we went to the Science Gallery with Oma and Opa.

Oma bought the boys pirate books that came with costumes and swords that make sounds. They have recently been obsessed with pirates, and Noah has decided he even wants a pirate birthday. L loves running around yelling " Shivery timbers"

I just dipped her toes in, but couldn't resist putting her in her swimsuit.

This is L and My conversation at the Science Gallery
Me: This is the moon L
L: How did they catch it?
Me: Do you think this is the moon from in the sky?
L: Uh, huh I fink so, I fink they caught it
L: Did they do this to block the moon from going away? (pointing to the railing)
Me: I don't know, so are we going to be able to see the moon tonight?
L: I guess not

Emma at 11 weeks

Em out for breakfast at Stella's with Momma and Daddy

Visiting with two little friends. These twin girls are 7 months older than Em and about the same length and weight as Em. It was very cute watching them talk to each other.

Em is still doing really well. She is growing like a weed, at 11 weeks she was 16 pounds and 25 inches, which is above the 95th percentile. Although she is still a touch lighter than the boys were at the same age. She loves smiling and talking and kicking and eating and sleeping. And we are all so in love with her!

New Year's Day at the Manitoba Museum

We decided to check out the Dinosaur Dynasty exhibit at the Manitoba Museum on New Year's Day. They were charging $30 for a family pass for just the dinos so we thought we'd spend the afternoon there. Well we ended up getting a Membership for the museum, because they were on sale, and we were glad we did because we only spend about half an hour with the dinos and then went to the museum to see the pirate ship (The Nonsuch). It was only one room of fossils and not really geared to kids our kids' ages. Because they didn't really care to read all of the informational plaques. But here are a few shots from there.

The Velociraptor, like the ones from Jurassic park.

L doing some archelogical excavation, and then onto the pirate ship...

N took our pic in the cabin of the ship

Emma really enjoyed the museum :-)

And the violent end to our gingerbread house.
