First Bike Ride/Trip to the Park

We have been feeling very cabin-feverish lately, so we decided to brave the wind and went for our first bike ride of the season. The boys voluntarily climbed into the bike trailer (YAY!), and we were off to King's Park.

Here we are having a little break after arriving at the park.

The boys running after the ball.

And running the other way after the ball.

This is the new labyrinth that was built in honor of Carol Shields, who was apparently a big fan of labyrinths. It's not done yet, I think the are planning to plant shrubs or something in the dirt sections, but it looks pretty good so far.

Action shot of my hubby, who is pulling the bike trailer, but my camera was acting up and I didn't get a shot of it all. My battery has a life of about 5 seconds right now. So I just turn it on and hit the shutter hoping that I'll get a shot of something. I really need a new camera!

First Peek at Baby

We went for our first Fetal Assesment yesterday. Everything went really well, thank you to everyone who prayed for us. It was quite cool that we had the same nurse, Marie, who found Luke's heart defect three years ago. She even remembered us. We were happy to see her again.

The first time we saw our baby on the screen, I was amazed how it looked so much like a baby already. It was lying in the perfect position and you could see the profile beautifully. Marie told us that it was being a little dramatic because it had it's left armed draped dramatically over it's forehead. The next very important piece of information was there was only one! I was quite relieved to hear that. With more nausea than the first two times and needing maternity clothes earlier, I was starting to wonder how many were in there.

The main purpose of this appointment was to do the Nuchal Transluscency Screening, which is measuring the fluid at the back of the baby's neck. All babies do have some fluid there but babies with chromosomal abnormalites, or heart defects have unusually large amounts. Our baby's measurments were all normal. They also did the crown to rump measurements to make sure the dates were right. And our baby is now 69mm from top of his head to bottom of his bum! (About the size of a lime.) So dates are right.

We also got to hear our baby's heartbeat twice yesterday, at the FA and at our midwife appointment with Toni. Heart rate was 150 bpm.
The next appointments are in June. We will go see Luke's cardiologist, Dr.Soni on June 16th, so she can do a Fetal Echocardiogram. (An ultrasound looking just at it's heart) And then we'll go back to see Marie on June 18th, so she can get a better look at the baby's organ and other stuff. Everything was still to tiny to see any detail now.

Spring!

It's finally spring!
We are very excited that Spring is finally here. The boys are outside every day enjoying the warm weather, puddles, and mud. Thankfully everything is starting to dry up so I am doing a little less laundry, except that we started potty training this week, so there is more laundry again.
Luke is doing really well. He got a pee pal sticker for his birthday from his Aunties. It's a black circle that you stick on the bottom of the potty bowl. When he pees on it, a lady bug appears! It's very exciting. Noah has definitely been his biggest cheerleader. He is always standing beside him and yelling reports to me from down the hall, and then cheering loudly when Luke does his business. It's very sweet.

I found a few pictures on the camera that I don't remember taking, so I think the boys were experimenting a bit on their own. This is Luke posing with his firetruck.

Luke's 3rd Birthday!

We celebrated Luke's 3rd Birthday this weekend. It was pretty low key. I've been running on low energy for a few weeks now so we decided to cut back and have a family only party. I felt kinda bad for Luke because we went to so much more work for Noah's party but I don't think Luke had any less fun. I didn't even make the cake myself, which I also had to deal with mommy-guilt about. But I felt really good about it all after the party was over and we all had had a really good time.

Luke's actual birthday was on Saturday, so we celebrated by having cinnamon buns for breakfast, then off to Music Lessons and to the Libraray. We went to the Veggie Tales movie at the cheap theatre in the afternoon, but had to leave early because Noah found it too suspenseful.

Luke has been promising a few things to us that he would do "after his birthday", he told us he would use the potty and go to Mini God Zone (Sunday school). So Sunday we put him to the test. We talked up the Mini God Zone all morning, and he was sounding pretty positive, but when it came to Nath dropping him off, he caved and Nath had to stay with him. So we'll have to work on that one a bit more. As for the potty training , we'll see how far we get with that this week. I can't say I'm extremely excited to clean up potty training messes while feeling nauseous with morning sickness, but I sure would love a break from changing diapers. It's been 4 years and 3 weeks of changing diapers, and it would be great to have a break before it starts all over again.

We got him a doctor's set and a new wading pool.

Dr. Luke off to another emergency.

Luke opening presents, it was hard to get a shot of him though because the other boys (cousin and brother) were very intent on "helping" him. They all had lots of fun!
